{Step Into Reading} Meet Rosetta~Celeste Sisler {Review}

The book introduces Rosetta and some of her hobbies but quickly derails into not really being about her anymore. It starts out with some words for kids to keep a look out for as they read the story. From there, it describes Rosetta and how she’s a garden-talent fairy and likes clothes, but then it starts involving everybody else. I assumed the story would be JUST about meeting her, so in that regard, you don’t really learn much about her.

As an adult reader, I can’t help but look at books like this with a slightly more critical eye as much as I try to think through a child’s perspective. So many books of this kind just reuse art. Rosetta is shown in the same dress and same pose several times. Characters are shown in the same pose but their outfits are swapped. Sometimes multiple people on a page have reused art. I know the books are for children, but that’s no excuse to be this lazy with art.

Should you read it?:

There are several different Disney fairies books that have way better information about the individual fairies themselves. I wouldn’t recommend this book, especially since there are plenty of better options.
