{RF} Lost in the Canyon~Kirsten Hall {Review}

Thana and her friends like to play Tutu’alangwa, which is hide and seek but uses horses and drums. Thana is “it” and goes to a spot to hide with her horse, Mazzy, but a storm approaches.

I had a few issues with this one. The story has several Native American words in it, which is fine, but one has the pronunciation beside it and the others don’t. Why only include it for one? At that point, don’t include any at all. It was a weird choice. However, it was nice seeing Native American representation in the story.

Thana’s friends also do something that I don’t agree with. I am not sure how much they could have done to help, but the book describes them as doing nothing, which irked me.

Should you read it?:

The story was pretty interesting. It would have been a lot better had the book been a tad bit longer to allow for more suspense, but for the length, the suspense level was pretty good. This is one of the better Horseshoe Canyon books.
